Lyme Disease Tip Summary:
Claire Dalton, the founder of the Chronically Care Project, shares a powerful message during Lyme Disease Awareness Month. Her insight focuses on maintaining a positive outlook despite the challenges posed by Lyme disease. Here’s a concise summary of her key points:
- Avoid bitterness: Lyme disease can easily lead to feelings of bitterness and anger due to the suffering and trauma it causes, but it’s important to resist this temptation.
- Unfair burden: Recognizing that no one deserves Lyme disease is crucial, acknowledging the injustice of the situation while emphasizing it’s an undeserved burden.
- Personal responsibility: Despite the difficulties, taking personal responsibility for healing, love, life, and making the best of each day is essential.
- Choose joy: Encourages choosing love and joy over bitterness, even when it’s a difficult choice to make.
- Opportunity for growth: Views the Lyme journey as an opportunity to “bloom where you’re planted,” using the experience as a chance for personal development.
Claire Dalton’s message serves as a beacon of hope and resilience for those battling Lyme disease. By advocating for a shift in perspective from bitterness to proactive positivity, she highlights the power of mindset in the healing journey. This approach not only aids in personal healing but also contributes to building a supportive and understanding community for those affected by Lyme disease and other tick-borne illnesses.

“Hey guys, I’m Claire, founder of the Chronically Care Project and my hack for Lyme Disease Awareness Month is do not let Lyme disease become your vehicle to bitterness. It is such a common temptation to want to become bitter and angry about all of the suffering, all of the trauma, all of the problems. Lyme disease is an all-encompassing illness. And it’s so easy to get angry and bitter. And we’ve all been through that phase where we’re angry and bitter about it. I hear this all the time. I don’t deserve this illness. I don’t deserve this illness. I don’t deserve this illness. This shouldn’t have happened to me. Absolutely. You did not deserve this illness. And really, it shouldn’t happen to anybody, but it is the hand that you were dealt, and it is your job to take personal responsibility for healing, for love, for life, and for doing the absolute best that you can every single day as you manage this illness. Do the best that you can. Do not become bitter. Let love and joy lead the way, even when it’s hard to make that choice. And your Lyme journey will be an opportunity for you to bloom where you’re planted.” – Claire Dalton
