Carolann Mazza Love shares a powerful Lyme Hack rooted in connection and resilience: never give up, and surround yourself with a support system that truly understands your journey.
- Never Give Up on Healing
- Chronic Lyme disease can feel overwhelming, but persistence is key.
- Even when progress is slow, continuing forward matters.
- Healing is possible, and hope should never be lost.
- Build a Support Team That Believes You
- Find people who understand and validate your experience.
- A strong support system can make a significant difference in your mental and emotional health.
- Support means having people who stay with you through unpredictable symptoms.
- Give Yourself Grace
- Chronic illness often requires last-minute changes and cancellations.
- Surround yourself with people who respect your limits.
- Acceptance and understanding from others reduces stress and pressure.
Carolann’s message reinforces that healing is not just about treatment—it’s about having the right people around you and the determination to keep going.

Matt Sabatello, Co-Founder of Tick Boot Camp: Carolann, thank you for being here for our Lyme Hackathon for Lyme Awareness Month. For everybody listening, I want them to know that you and I were both featured in Resilient Hope by Nicole Bell and we’re honored to be in that book. We met several months ago at the book launch, and we’re here tonight at a Project Lyme event doing our live Lyme Hackathons. So, I want to ask you: what would be your number one Lyme tip for people listening who are suffering with chronic Lyme disease?
Carolann Mazza Love: First, never give up. But more importantly, make sure you get yourself a good support team that believes you—people who will stand by you and understand all the times you have to cancel last minute or when you may not always be your full self.
Matt: Truth. And just to build upon that “never give up” sentiment: doctors will sometimes tell us that we’re never going to get better, that we’re damaged, or that we just have to live with it. I think what you’re saying is never accept that; keep striving to get better. With brilliant doctors like Dr. Horowitz and Dr. Bill Rawls here tonight on this authors panel, people can get better and should never give up. So, thank you so much for your words of wisdom.
Carolann: You’re welcome. Stay well.
