Aoife Eleafa shares a simple but powerful Lyme Hack: creating a “wellness menu” to reduce decision fatigue and make daily self-care more manageable.
- Create a Wellness Menu
- Chronic Lyme disease can make even simple decisions feel overwhelming.
- A “wellness menu” gives you pre-planned self-care options to choose from.
- This removes the stress of deciding what to do each day.
- Break It Into Time-Based Options
- Have options for different energy and time levels.
- For example: a 30-minute, 10-minute, and 5-minute activity.
- This allows you to care for yourself no matter how you’re feeling.
- Reduce Pressure and Build Consistency
- Eliminates the feeling of “am I doing enough?”
- Encourages consistent, realistic self-care habits.
- Small actions—like tea, a walk, or meditation—add up over time.
Aoife’s approach is a reminder that healing doesn’t always require big actions—sometimes the most powerful progress comes from small, consistent steps.
“It helps alleviate the pressure of ‘am I doing enough?’ and gives you simple ways to care for yourself each day.” – Aoife Eleafa

Matt Sabatello, Co-Founder of Tick Boot Camp: Aoife from Project Lyme, thank you for joining us and thank you for being a part of Lyme Disease Awareness Month. As you may know, for May, we do a Lyme Hackathon where we ask people to provide their tip, trick, or hack to help the chronic Lyme community in their journey. So, if I had to ask you, what is your number one tip or recommendation for people suffering from Lyme, what would it be?
Aoife Eleafa: I’d say my number one tip is to make a “wellness menu.” This helps to remove some of the decision fatigue of “how do I take care of myself today?” I have a menu that has a half-hour option, a 10-minute option, and a 5-minute option.
That might be a half-hour sauna, a 10-minute walk, or a 5-minute cup of tea and meditation. I can pick an activity depending on how much time I have and how I’m feeling that day. It helps alleviate the pressure of “am I doing enough?” or “what can I do for myself today?”
Matt: What a great answer. Thank you so much, and thank you for all that you do with Project Lyme to help our community.
Aoife: Thank you so much.
