Cassidy Colbert’s Lyme Hack:

“Hey everybody, Cassidy here (check out my podcast interview). So I have been sick with Lyme for what will be nine years on May 7. And one thing that I have found in the last year and a half that has helped me the most is gratitude journaling. So every evening, I take out my two journals. I have one journal where I write just my feelings and one where I write what I have been grateful for every day in. So getting in touch with your emotions, because being sick with Lyme my emotions have been stunted for nine years trying to hide everything down and pretend that I’m okay on the outside and I’m just fine or okay when really I’m not. So writing down how I’ve been feeling. And then every evening I write down what I was grateful for that day. Simple things that are just waking up, or things like playing with my niece and nephew, I get a little more into it. Then I write what stressed me out during the day. I have found that writing what has been stressful really helps me to alleviate my anxiety in the end because then I write how I can fix it. And it’s not real solutions to say, it’s breathing, taking deep breaths, or reframing my mind. So, you know that this is okay, you’ve done this before, and you will get through this. In the end. I write my mantras that I have come up with for myself, so I am strong, I am loved, I am beautiful. and I am healing. And then I sign it, do a little yoga, and I go to bed. So that’s my tip for surviving Lyme disease.”
