Stefanie Smit’s Lyme Hack:

“Hey guys, it’s Stefanie from Holistic Heartbeats (check out my podcast interview) and I just wanted to jump on here for a few minutes, and share some things that have helped me on my journey towards healing from Lyme disease. So hopefully it can encourage you in your own journey against your fight against Lyme. So first things first, I always address my own healing and that of my clients addressing body, mind, and spirit because we are all three, and all three need to be addressed and supported while healing. That’s crucial. So I’ll go through all three and give you some little tidbits. First, the body. So one of the things that I’ve had success with and I love is ozone. And you’ve heard me talk about ozone a lot on my own Instagram channel. So what is ozone? It’s an alternative treatment that’s really designed to increase the amount of oxygen that’s delivered to the body, really at a therapeutic level, with pure ozone gas. So microorganisms that cause disease and our bodies are encapsulated by a cell wall, it’s very weak when it’s in the presence of oxygen and especially ozone. So it’s because of this that ozone therapy works so well. And with ozone therapy, you are taking in more oxygen in a more readily available form, which really helps to detoxify the body and gives energy, which we all need. This treatment really stimulates the production of new stem cells and activates the existing cells. And when it comes to Lyme disease specifically, though, high-dose ozone therapy is effective in killing bacteria, spirochetes, viruses, and fungi. So you can find a place in your area that offers 10-pass ozone treatment or single pass sessions, or you can purchase your own ozone machine and do ozone installations at home, I’ve done single pass, and I have my own ozone machine at home to do installations, I found success with both of those. One thing I want to address, I hear this a lot. It’s often reported that ozone is dangerous and toxic. The media are generally reporting on high concentrations of tropospheric ozone, and its toxic effect on the respiratory system. But tropospheric ozone and medical ozone are not the same. So you don’t need to worry in that regard. Second, the mind, supporting the mind. Mindset is crucial in healing. And only you can change your mindset. And nobody else can do that. Remember that no one else is responsible for your mental health. And don’t ever put that expectation on anyone else either. I typically see people fall into one of three categories. They see themselves either as victims, survivors, or warriors. It’s one of the three. So victims really tend to blame everyone else around them. Survivors tend to kind of crawl up a wall and try to hang on for dear life. And then warriors tend to really lean in and accept their circumstances. And then in doing so, just take one small step towards wellness every single day. And that’s, I think, the most healthy mindset to have the warrior mindset. So what are some ways to help to cultivate a healthy mindset? That’s the question. So things I love and things I do myself are daily affirmations, DNRS, and a gratitude practice. So when it comes to affirmations, it’s helpful to say certain things to yourself. So I can give you some examples of this. So first, you can remind yourself that you don’t need to be healed to be worthy of love, you can feel broken, and you can still be whole, you can still hurt and hope. And that you can be a little bit of everything. And it’s only natural to feel a lot sometimes. Second, you know, own your own emotions. Remind yourself that. Own my own emotions, so that they don’t own me. And then third, tell yourself the greatest gift you can give and receive is the awareness of what it is that you need, physically, mentally, spiritually, and that doing the inner work that you do directly benefits yourself and everybody else that’s around you too. So when it comes to DNRS, I love incorporating that, you know, DNRS really helps to boost endorphins because we’re engaging in activities that boost our mood. So you can produce these healing neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, and endorphins, and you’re doing this on your own. So other programs out there include Gupta’s Brain Retraining Program. A lot of people have success with that, and they really liked that as well. You can check that out. And then third, this spirit, and people forget this a lot, but nothing will test your life and your faith, like fighting for your life for years. It will make you question everything that you know to be true and every relationship you’ve ever had. Without a doubt. My suggestion for you is to know what you believe, know what you value, and then align yourself with those values to support you as you fight against Lyme disease. I’ve got some books that I really enjoyed. The first is a book of comfort for those in sickness by Phillip Power. In this book, he discusses God’s character and the presence of suffering and how it doesn’t need to be a dark experience while we’re going through it. The second is Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy by Mark Vroegop. This is a great book, it’s one of my favorites. And in this book, Mark discusses how to properly process and grieve when the merry-go-round of our lives has stopped and we are forced to look at sickness and death in the midst of our grief. He describes how lament is how you live between the poles of a hard life, and then trust in God’s goodness and how lament can really tune our hearts back to what’s really important and serve as a reorientation to the brokenness that lies underneath our lives. And then lastly, most important, scripture, remember this. God doesn’t censor the Bible. And a third of the Psalms, a third, are written laments. The Psalms are really a songbook for Christians, reflecting on the joy, the struggles, the sorrows, the triumphs of life, everything. And a third of the psalms are laments. And how infrequently do we see laments in modern talk and modern music? And could it be that our love for comfort and ease and prosperity trumps a biblical worldview of suffering, I think it does. And you can read more about that as a teaser here, and all of these resources are on my blog. Everything about ozone as well. And then one last one just for fun. I Could Pee on This and Other Poems by Cats because we all need a good laugh. We need lots of laughs when we are fighting the hard battle of Lyme disease. So make sure you laugh. Make sure that you address your healing body, mind, and spirit. I hope that these things were helpful for you and met you where you are. And I hope that your journey towards Lyme disease goes well. Check out my resources, they are available to you.”
