Lauren Friedwald’s Lyme Hack:

“Hi, everyone. I’m Lauren from Lyme Body and Soul. I just wanted to talk a little bit about the podcast I did with Tick Boot Camp a few weeks ago, in the podcast, I talked about how I started getting health issues in college. And I went to about 10 doctors, and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong. They just diagnosed me with stress. And I just figured I have to live with these symptoms. There’s nothing I can do. They weren’t debilitating. So I just kind of lived my life with them. And then about four years ago, I went hiking on the west coast, and I came back with flu-like symptoms that never went away. And I got about 30 other symptoms within a few months of coming back from that trip. And I was really sick, I could not get out of bed. I was barely able to go to work. And I didn’t know what to do. I went to about 10 doctors and another 10 doctors who just told diagnosed me with stress and fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, which was really invalidating because I knew something was seriously wrong. And they were just telling me there’s nothing to do. You can take strong prescription medications for the symptoms, and that’s about it. So at the time, I was working as a speech pathologist in a school during the school year. And then during the summer I was acting in TV shows and movies, which is why the podcast episode is called the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, because I filmed an episode for season one a few years ago. So I got really sick, I had to go on medical leave from my job for two years. I could barely get out of bed, I couldn’t do anything and I had to put my life on hold. So I tried a lot of different treatments during that time, which I talked about in the podcast episode. So I tried herbals, I tried low dose naltrexone, Ozone, UVLRX, i did osteopathic manipulation and neuro therapy for the pain. I did lots of detox. I did energy healing like bio magnetism and Reiki and shemonic healing. So in the podcast I talk about which ones helped the most. I treated for about two years. And right now I’m about 80 to 85% better. So I’m not treating Lyme anymore, but I’m dealing with the aftermath of Lyme. So I’ve come a really long way. I am amazed about how I could not get out of bed a couple years ago, and now I’m working 10 hour days out of the house in a school with emotionally disturbed kids that take a lot of energy. So I still have a ways to go, but I’m really proud about how far I’ve come and I’m really grateful. I’ve learned a lot about myself while healing from Lyme. I’ve become stronger and wiser, more compassionate, I’ve become more in touch with my body just listening to my body more. More mindful of everything. And I, yeah, I’ve really healed a lot from connecting with the community on here and starting my Instagram and blog. I’ve met so many wonderful people. And that’s really provided another layer of healing for me. So you should definitely check out my podcast. I talked about how like the treatments I’ve done, which ones helped the most, how I’m doing today and more about what I’ve learned about myself.”
